BROOKSHIRE YWIE SCRIPT 2016

This basket of poppies represent the poppie field in the Wizard of Oz, As Dorothy,
andthe Scarecrow, the Lion and the tin man came out of the Woods and gazed upon
the Emerald City, Dorothy exclaimed “There’s The Emerald City Oh we’re almost there
at last at last…..They rushed into the poppie field running towards the City - ‘Run, Run,
Hurry, Hurry!’.  They did not know that the wicked witch had put a spell on the poppies
and as they ran through the field, Dorothy began to get sleepy and could not run
anymore,“Here give us your hand and we shall pull you along’...says Scarecrow, as
Dorothy fell asleep. Noticing their plight the Tinman and Scarecrow began to yell,
“Help! Help!...” Glinda the good witch hears their cries and makes it snow! Awakening
Dorothy and the Lion and no sooner are they back on their way towards the Emerald City!

We have some amazing young women who we want to acknowledge tonight and
award them this poppie. Our girls are on their journey towards the emerald city,
which is the Temple which leads to Eternal Life.  While on their journey they have
and will encounter opposition, which can lead them on another path away from our
Savior.  Even though these oppositions come our girls are prepared to face them,
like Dorothy they have good friends, family, teachers, the prophet and the holy ghost
to guide them. We all know that the Wizard of Oz awards them with the thing they
want the most, Just like our Heavenly Father has promised us if we keep his
commandments and overcome these oppositions in our life we will also be blessed.
If we look inside the poppie we find a caramel apple, which is sweet and delicious!
And we hope that as our girls overcome their oppositions in their life they will also
be able to learn and grow and enjoy the sweetjoy of happiness our HFather & Savior
gives them.

I will now award our girls with their Poppies:
